| So
what’s the big deal about competing when your deaf, your body
still works the same, you just can’t hear the starters gun
or referees whistle. WRONG
Apart from the fact that deafness is often accompanied by a lack
of speech, it also seriously affects the balance and co-ordination
making it almost impossible for a deaf athlete to compete on the
same level as a hearing one. It could be said that a deaf athlete
has to work even harder than and able-bodied athlete just to keep
on an equal footing.
There is one important thing to remember whether you are Deaf, Disabled
or Able Bodied and that is to have FUN
